Summary

Linuxカーネルにおいて、以下の脆弱性が修正されました：drm/panthorのpanthor_fw_unplugで発生するNULLポインタ参照の問題です。このパッチは、panthor_fw_unplug()内でのMCUの停止および停止待機手順を削除します。なぜなら、MCUは様々な状態にある可能性があり、ファームウェアがロードされていなかったり初期化されていなかったりすることがあり、それがNULLポインタ参照を引き起こす可能性があるためです。MCUが停止できない場合もあるため、アンプラグ時には停止を待たずにMCUを無効化することが安全だと考えられています。

Summary

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/panthor: Fix NULL pointer dereference on panthor_fw_unplug

This patch removes the MCU halt and wait for halt procedures during
panthor_fw_unplug() as the MCU can be in a variety of states or the FW
may not even be loaded/initialized at all, the latter of which can lead
to a NULL pointer dereference.

It should be safe on unplug to just disable the MCU without waiting for
it to halt as it may not be able to.
