Summary

Linuxカーネルにおいて、以下の脆弱性が修正されました。HIDのmagicmouseドライバにおけるmagicmouse_report_fixup()関数のメモリリークを回避しました。magicmouse_report_fixup()関数は新たにkmemdup()で割り当てたバッファを返していましたが、そのバッファを解放していませんでした。report_fixup()の呼び出し元は返されたポインタの所有権を持っておらず、rdescの一部を返すことは許可されていますが、そのライフタイムは呼び出し元によって管理されています。

Possible impacts 当該ソフトウェアが扱う情報について、外部への漏えいは発生しません。 また、当該ソフトウェアが扱う情報について、書き換えは発生しません。 さらに、当該ソフトウェアが完全に停止する可能性があります。 そして、この脆弱性を悪用した攻撃の影響は、他のソフトウェアには及びません。

Summary

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

HID: magicmouse: avoid memory leak in magicmouse_report_fixup()

The magicmouse_report_fixup() function was returning a
newly kmemdup()-allocated buffer, but never freeing it.

The caller of report_fixup() does not take ownership of the returned
pointer, but it *is* permitted to return a sub-portion of the input
rdesc, whose lifetime is managed by the caller.
