Smack の XMPP ライブラリには、競合状態により、SecurityMode.required TLS が設定されている際、TLS の保護を回避され、クライアント認証の平文の使用を誘発される脆弱性が存在します。

Possible impacts 中間者攻撃 (man-in-the-middle attack) により、サーバレスポンスから "starttls" 機能を削除されることで、TLS の保護を回避され、クライアント認証の平文の使用を誘発される可能性があります。

Summary

Race condition in the XMPP library in Smack before 4.1.9, when the SecurityMode.required TLS setting has been set, allows man-in-the-middle attackers to bypass TLS protections and trigger use of cleartext for client authentication by stripping the "starttls" feature from a server response.
